Many of you have been asking about the “Veterans Card”. A plastic Record of Service Card NDI75 is available to all retired military service personnel of the Canadian Forces, Regular and Reserve components.

Plusieurs d’entre vous me demande à propos de la « Carte du Vétéran ». Une carte de registre de service NDI75 est disponible pour tous les militaires à la retraite des Forces canadiennes, y inclus la Régulière et la Réserve.

This card is valid to enter all federal government historic sites and is recognized at some historic sites in Europe as well. It is essential to book free passage on VIA Rail in July and for other transportation agencies and companies for passage.

Cette carte est valide pour accéder aux sites historiques du gouvernement fédéral et est même reconnu à certains sites en Europe aussi. Elle est essentiel pour prendre passage sur VIA Rail en juillet et pour d’autres transporteurs à titre gratuit.

To obtain your NDI75 card write to the address below. They will send you a form to complete which you will have to return with two pictures of yourself. The procedure takes form 6 to 8 weeks. Apply now!

I have been informed that there is missing information on the subject card within the previous e_mails forwarded to date( SEE BELOW MESSAGE FROM NDHQ).
Please do not distributed the original message further until ADDITIONAL info is available from NDHQ/VAC.

Also the card should be referred to as Record of Service Card not Veteran's Card.

We are working with VAC, to have the information corrected. If you could
stop sending this information out until you receive direction from them it
would be appreciated.

The information that you are missing:

Member must have served minimum of ten years in the forces to qualify for the card. (Not all retired members)

Via Rail does not require this card they will take a photo copy of a record
of service.

It takes at least 3-6 months (not 6-8 weeks) for the card to be processed.

That is after the application is received with the photos. The photos
provided must be passport quality.

It is called a NDI 75/Record of service card not a Veterans' card.

Veterans card infers that the holders of the NDI 75/Record of service
card should apply for another card.

Due to the state of the economy we are understaffed and this
e-mail/letter has increased our work load immensely, of which are mostly
non-qualified inquires generated by this distribution.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could resend the e-mails/letters
with the correct information to cut down on the non-qualified applicants.
