Minutes of the General Meeting held 18 October, 2009.

 

Call to Order: The meeting was convened at 13:32 hrs with the President Bob Janik presiding. There were 10 members and 7 ladies in attendance. As well, the president welcomed two guests, Larry and Helen Phipps; they representing the Kingston Veterans Breakfast Club.

 

Airborne Prayer: The prayer was dedicated to our fallen brothers. Jim Steed called the roll of those recently deceased. Regrettably, names not recorded.

 

Approval of Minutes: There being no errors or omissions, it was moved by Mel Price and seconded by Ross MacKenzie, that the minutes be approved as presented. Carried.

 

Correspondence: One item received from Frank Hall. Frank announced his desire to retire as the Canadian coordinator for the annual St Michael’s Day gathering in Niagara. The item was discussed with a call for some member to volunteer for the position. Any interested can contact Frank for further details.

 

Financial Report: Expenditures this month were: operating expenses of 49.79, bank fee of 4.95, and a deposit of 450.00 to the caterer of the upcoming Christmas party, for a total of $504.74. After expenses, the Treasurer reports a balance of $2,019.88. There being no further discussion, it was moved by Ross MacKenzie and seconded by Jim Gratto that the financial report be approved as presented. Carried.

 

Old Business:

       1.  It was confirmed that branch representation at the upcoming November 11th memorials are as follows:

Vimy Gate – Noel Coward, Mel Douglas, and Steve Bycok. Members to lay both the CAFA and ARAC wreaths.

Cross of Sacrifice, City Park – Mel Price and Ron Aubry.

Verona – Jim Steed and Doug Jennings. Jim to do the school visit as well.

RCL Br 560 – Frank Key.

Prescott – Ralph Alkerton

       2.  The president gave an update on the Christmas party planning. General discussion followed. Format will be as in years past with cost set at 25.00 per person. Experience has shown that some off-set from the general fund will be required. It was agreed that the General Fund will subsidize costs as will the Kgtn Breakfast Club fund. Larry Phipps, acting on behalf of the Bkfst club, agreed.

 

 

New Business: The president asked for a motion to authorize the branch annual Christmas gift to Camp Trillium. Discussion followed with a suggestion that the gift be increased to $300.00. Moved by Ross MacKenzie that a grant of 300 dollars is made to Camp trillium. Seconded by Jim Gratto. Carried

 

Reports/General Discussion: Sick list is up-dated to include Frank Key who had just undergone knee replacement surgery. All appears in order with a bout of physio to commence shortly. Nellie then briefed on a recent tel-con she had with Ivy Scudmore. Our best wishes are extended to all.

 

Adjournment: It was agreed that the next meeting would be held on Sunday, 8 November. Moved by Mel Price that the meeting be adjourned. Seconded by Mel Douglas. Carried.
